Alloy properties
|
|
This alloy
is part of the Nickel-Copper family alloys. Its chemical composition
(around 2/3 nickel and 1/3 copper) provides this grade
good mechanical characteristics along with desirable corrosion
resistance. It is generally used up to temperatures of approx. 400/500°C
where it keeps good properties. Alloy 400 can be considered as a choice
material for parts of units working in contact with sea water because of
its insensitivity to stress-cracking corrosion induced by chlorine ions. Authorized
use in pressure vessels up to 425°C.
